Zeike’s Place

Youth Center
Souls Harbour Rescue Mission is committed to working with the youth of today for the hope of tomorrow. Our desire is to offer them healthy lifestyle alternatives. The Zeike’s Place Youth Center provides a safe and positive atmosphere where youth can socialize, have fun, and develop their life skills. Mentorships and programs have been designed to meet their needs.

Having a safe place for youth to hang out is important in any community; however, the demographic issues in North Central Regina demonstrate the need here specifically. For example, North Central Regina has the greatest number of lone parent households; 920 in total with 160 male and 760 female parents respectively. 47% of households are below the poverty line and a high proportion of the population has an education level that is less than grade 9.[1] These factors underline the problems of North Central: criminal activity, drug usage and trade, prostitution and assaults.  It is within this environment that our facility will operate.

We believe that community issues such as those listed above cannot be addressed without first creating a “safe place” from which to work. We look forward to building bridges within the community, and between our volunteers, staff, and youth. That is what excites us!
