More about Shayil Home

Women come to Shayil Home from all ages and stages of life.  Many of the women who come to this program struggle with a variety of personal problems.  Life’s “curve-balls” or situations have taken their toll.  Residents face the challenge of stabilizing themselves and their lives without the use of drugs or alcohol.  Facing the deep hurts of past abuse and tragedies requires a lot of trust.  We work to equip them with the resources necessary for this journey, encouraging them as they move forward throughout this process of healing and change.

Our Home houses up to eighteen women with their children.  It includes:

  • private bedrooms
  • full, shared bathrooms
  • Laundry facilities
  • living area/ dining area
  • library/computer room
  • visitors lounge/meeting room

During their stay, the women are provided meals, clothing, and personal care/hygiene items. As stated on our main page, the  program includes Christian support groups and classes, Bible studies and group activities, group work projects, a weekly recreational time, one on one time with staff, professional counselling and other outside advocacy as necessary.  Women with children have access to childcare through our daycare.
