New Year's Resolution
Ken and I were chatting before church today, about what he would have preached about had his brother not been on the Good News Chapel roster. Our conversation went along with some thoughts I was having as I contemplated the hope of 2008.Sometimes in life, there is one thing holding you back from living in victory. One big hurdle that seems insurmountable, and affects you like a low grade fever.
What is the one thing you want to conquer this year? What is the one thing, that, if you focussed on, would allow a mountain to be moved and your life to be drawn closer to the Father.
Do you need to forgive a friend? Release a painful situation? Overcome bitterness from a betrayal? Quit smoking? Stop worrying? Commit to your small group? Go to bed on time? Set your alarm earlier to have those morning devotions? There are a miriad of stumbling blocks--as individiual as you and I.
Take the biggest thing and make it your mission to overcome in 2008!
I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. So, what's YOUR big thing? Care to share in the comments?
So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it.
