To the Homeless Veterans of Canada

...and for Grandpa in Heaven.
In Flanders Fields, by Lt-Col John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

It's a rerrible thought that any of our Veterans may be homeless. These men and women gave so much for the rights and freedoms that we take for granted. Life was never the same for many of them when they came home from the horrors of war and we need to remember and honour them all year around, not just on Rembrance Day. Give a Veteran a hug the next time you see one.
