Weekend Bloggery

Okay, don't get used to me blogging on the weekends but I can hardly resist during my "convention vacation." Here's a tidbit about what I learned from our speaker, Mark Fisher, during yesterdays "expansion day about boards of directors:"

There is common ground that all rescue workers MUST share--staff, volunteers, and board members. It is a love for the poor. A compassion for those who are "the least, the last, and the lost."

Without it, you cheapen the positions of those who are serving. Without this passion for rescue, board members will not be properly fit and equipped for their role. They will make decisions based solely on finances and fear, instead of faith and vision!

Oh, and although my husband is adamant I don't blog his emails, I can't resist a few quotes from him, either:

Hi. Hope your trip was good and that you are having fun, which, no doubt you are. I on the other hand never have fun, so everything is as it should be.

well,here goes nothing...

3. Pat Martin called in sick
4. Larry Martin called in sick
5. Murray left a message to cancel his shift on saturday due to going to Edmonton to pick up Melanie.
9. I feel like cr-p. But you knew that. [Ken has pnemonia.]

Okay, and letter number 2:

Hi. Well, yesterday was Ken and Len day, as we were minus michelle, vicki, Jon, Larry, Mel, Becca, Larry Martin, Pat, and anyone else. Fun times. At least Paula came for her evening shift.

Please pray for the Mission during this time of high excitement!! And low staff. Good bye from rainy Seattle!
