Question Period during the Legislative Assembly

Like I said, I can't keep up with God this week!! My third post today:

How exciting to receive news from Gareth Dillistone, one of our amazing board members, that MLA Don Toth mentioned the Rescue Mission Banquet during Question Period in the Legislature on Thursday:

The Deputy Speaker: — The member for Moosomin.

Regina Rescue Mission Fundraiser

Mr. Toth: — Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. Madam
Deputy Speaker, last night I had the privilege of joining my
colleague, the member from Cypress Hills, and also the member
from Regina Elphinstone-Centre, at the Regina Rescue
Mission’s 2006 annual Love Your Neighbour fundraising
banquet.

The master of the ceremonies for the evening was Reverend
Ken Porter, who was a founding executive director of the
mission. Madam Deputy Speaker, the purpose of the banquet
was to bring to everyone’s attention and awareness the reasons
for the Rescue Mission, and how by reaching out to those less
fortunate we can make a difference.

Madam Deputy Speaker, there were more than 600 people
gathered for last night’s banquet, and thanks to the generosity of
organizations and businesses in the city each one gathered were
treated to a scrumptious meal á la carte. We want to thank all
the sponsors for their donations and support.

The highlight I think, Madam Deputy Speaker, however was the
keynote address by Tara Robinson, CTV [Canadian Television
Network Ltd.] News and more specifically the testimony of
Melissa, who acknowledged the work of the Rescue Mission
and how her life was changed around from a life of prostitution
and addictions to drugs and alcohol.

Madam Deputy Speaker, I want to extend a hearty thank you to
the Rescue Mission for their work in this city and to the more
than 600 guests for the $67,000 they donated to help the Rescue
Mission. Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker.

Some Hon. Members: — Hear, hear!
