If you missed tonight's newscast...

I've never blogged more than once in a day but I can't keep up with all this good news!! This from CTV today:

Regina Rescue Mission
Mon, May 15, 2006 06:39 PM CST

It's a mission of partnerships for one of Regina's Homeless Shelters. The son of Soul's Harbour's founder says things have changed since his mother passed away. Donavon Carroll says, "Before she passed away, she was going to do some different kind of outreach." The Regina Rescue Mission will be temporarily moved just above Souls Harbour. Both missions under one roof will allow those in need to get a good meal and a place to sleep.

The founder of RRM, Michelle Porter says, "We actually recently decided to partner up within the last couple of weeks. We were sitting commiserating. We had lost a key employee and of course Gerri Carroll passed away and we have been evicted all at the same time. And we thought what are we going to do and suddenly bingo, why don't we share?"

And sharing is just what they did. But the temporary facility will only be able to house 12 people. That's 8 fewer than the old Regina Rescue Mission. Michelle says, "The only people that don't have a place to live are those that need permanent housing."

Vern Hunter a new resident at the mission is one who can relate. Vern Hunter says "Not everybody is going to be able to go down there. And that's the sad part, it won't be able to house as many residents." The rescue mission will have a more permanent home which will accommodate more people in about a year. For now they are just happy Soul's Harbour took them in, like they do hundreds of those in need every year.
